Melissa Toyoshima
MTOM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), L.Ac. Board Certified Acupuncturist & Herbalist
Using gentle techniques, I specialize in pain disorders and infertility.
I strive to educate and empower my patients to make well-informed decisions about their health and well-being using a multi-disciplinary approach, including diet, lifestyle, and stress reduction, along with acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
I found Chinese medicine and nutrition after suffering for years with chronic pain, digestive issues and, eventually, infertility. I know first-hand how exhausting it is to see numerous specialists and find they cannot help you. That hopeless feeling about ever becoming healthy again.
Like many of my patients, I found acupuncture as a last resort to help with my chronic back pain. After one round of treatments, I came off all pain medication, could work out, and live a comfortable life again. This experience sold me on this amazing medicine!
With chronic GI issues, my doctors had also failed to give me the answers I needed, so again, I turned to acupuncture with nutrition and herbs to heal.
The success of my acupuncture treatments inspired me to further my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine and nutrition with a focus on chronic disease. This included food intolerances/sensitivities, endocrine and metabolic dysfunction, autoimmune disease, gastrointestinal conditions, chronic pain and infertility.
I have a broad educational base and history of combined western medicine, behavioral sciences and eastern medicine. I earned my Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University, specializing in Behavior Analysis and Bio-Medical Sciences with an emphasis on Behavioral Neuropharmacology and Psychopharmacology.
After spending time in a laboratory, I worked with the community, becoming an advocate for people with disabilities for not-for-profit organizations and the State of Arizona.
I graduated from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, Summa Cum Laude, with a Master’s of Traditional Oriental Medicine, in Santa Monica, California.
I am also a Board Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist, licensed by the State of Michigan and California, Nationally Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) earning the highest designation as a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine.
While finishing my degree, I spent time in Tokyo, Japan completing an internship studying Classical Acupuncture/Meridian Therapy and Japanese-style techniques.
I am currently working on my Master’s in Nutrition at the University of Alabama, furthering my passion for educating my patients in the prevention of disease.
When not treating patients at Wise Wellness Center. I spend my free time with my beautiful, identical twin girls.
Erin Muszynski
NCCAOM certified and Michigan Licensed Acupuncturist
Erin Muszynski is a NCCAOM certified and Michigan Licensed Acupuncturist. Erin began her college studies at Western Michigan University where she uncovered a passion for holistic healing.
She then discovered East Asian medicine and became fascinated with treating modern disorders with an ancient philosophy, integrating both Eastern and Western approaches to treatment.
She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at one of the top schools in the country for TCM, Pacific College of Health and Science in Chicago where she graduated with a 4 year Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine.
Erin specializes in musculoskeletal disorders and pain management. She also has experience and knowledge in treating a wide array of conditions. These include but are not limited to: anxiety and depression, fertility and menstrual health, smoking cessation, gastrointestinal disorders, headaches and migraines, and chemotherapy support.
Erin is known for her empathetic nature and gentle touch with patients at Wise Wellness Center. She is a firm believer that the mind, body, and spirit are a whole and need to be mutually nourished. She also believes in patient-driven care that is customized for each individual. These qualities make Erin a well-rounded practitioner, devoted to the health and wellness of her patients.
Emily Hewitt
Patient Care Coordinator
I'm Emily, and I manage the office here at Wise Wellness Center. I've worked with Melissa since August of 2019 and enjoyed every minute.
I share her passion for helping others and am grateful every day to come in to work, supporting our goal to bring positive change in our patient's lives!
I have two decades of health care experience, which were spent in supervisory positions, with a strong emphasis on customer service and patient care. My time away from work is spent with my two sons, traveling, and hanging out with family and friends.

Heba Abdel
Massage Therapist
Heba is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Michigan. She has been practicing massage since graduating from the Institute for Massage Education here in Kalamazoo in 2014.
Massage Therapy inspires the journey to her own self improvement and well-being which she continues today, and wishes to share with each client.
Heba's warm and skilled nature extends to and welcomes those from all walks of life, supporting the crucial role massage plays in healing from physical and emotional trauma, and everyday stressors.
Heba continues to refine her skills in customizing each session to the client's needs and comfort, often combining many different modalities in one session for maximum benefit.
